About the Digest

The Philosopher’s Digest was founded with the intention of giving philosophers an easy way to stay abreast of the current literature while also providing a forum for cutting-edge commentary and discussion.  Users are invited to interact with the site in three distinct ways:

Digest.  The periodical literature in philosophy is vast.  Our reviewers help to make it more manageable by selecting significant articles within their areas of specialization and outlining their arguments in clear and concise prose.

Discuss. Visitors are encouraged to offer comments on the site’s reviews in open conversation with their philosophical peers.  We likewise invite and encourage article authors to meet their commentators and critics here.

Review. Reviewers share critical commentary on articles quickly and without the need to write a full-length essay.  They serve the philosophical community by highlighting important ideas in contemporary philosophical literature.

The purpose behind the Digest’s open format is to encourage philosophical discussion, and give a wider hearing to important advances in philosophical discussion.  The editors hope that with the careful and charitable contributions of our valued visitors and reviewers, the site will in turn reward them with a timely contribution to their thought and research.

We are always open to suggestions and welcome your comments.  If you would like to contribute to the digest, please click here.
